Winter Weather Possible Saturday

Newest forecast models are indicating snow increasing during the day on Saturday. A mix could arrive as early as 2AM-4AM across the Ozarks and Jefferson City with a rain/sleet mix. Snow will be possible in far northern Missouri at this time. The chance increasing through 9AM with the changeover to snow for most of Mid-Missouri

Strong winds derail more than a dozen rail cars in mid-Missouri

Monday night’s fast-moving thunderstorms left mid-Missouri residents cleaning up widespread damage. Work crews in Chariton County, that’s northwest of Boone County, spent Tuesday afternoon clearing debris off railroad tracks after strong winds toppled more than a dozen train cars. Emergency Management Director Eric McKenize told ABC 17 News the rail cars are owned by BNSF.

Are tornado sirens effective?
