The Samaritan Center in Jefferson City expects to give away more than 2,000 turkey dinners by Thanksgiving. The center is a faith-based food pantry that provides for the human needs of the area’s poor. Every month, people come to the Samaritan Center and are given groceries. In November, they are also given a Thanksgiving meal.

Authorities have released the name of a man killed in a Lake of the Ozarks house fire last week. Sunrise Beach Fire Protection District officials say 51-year-old David Ratterree died in the fire on Nov. 14. Ratterree’s house was completely destroyed by the fire, but firefighters were able to save neighboring structures from the flames.
