Medical marijuana licenses issued to 192 Missouri facilities
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)
Missouri's Department of Health and Senior Services said Thursday that medical marijuana dispensary licenses will be awarded to 192 facilities by the end of the day.
Each of Missouri's eight congressional districts is allowed 24 licenses, per Missouri statute.
“We are committed to making medical marijuana safe and accessible for qualified patients of Missouri,” Lyndall Fraker director of the DHSS Section for Medical Marijuana Regulation, said in a news release. “This phase of program implementation is vital to product accessibility for Missourians throughout the entire state.”
More than 1,200 applications were submitted to DHSS and the department said it approved the ones that best met the requirements outlined in the state's rules. Several companies are seeking licenses for dispensaries in Mid-Missouri, including Columbia and Jefferson City.
The department said the process to notify the facilities about their application's acceptance or denial began Thursday morning.
On Jan. 10, Missouri DHSS issued 86 licenses for medical marijuana-infused products manufacturing facilities.
DHSS also certified all but three medical marijuana transportation facilities on Dec. 23.
Seed-to-sale facility certifications will be announced Jan. 31.
