JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services certified all, but three medical marijuana transportation facilities that applied Monday.

Of the 24 companies that applied to transport medical marijuana, 21 were certified. Missouri Alliance for Veterans Care LLC. in Doolittle is the only certified transportation facility located in Mid-Missouri.

The first round of certifications shows the majority of transportation facilities are located around the Kansas City and St. Louis areas. Certifications were given to 10 companies around Kansas City and six are situated around St. Louis.

DHSS approved certifications for medical marijuana testing labs, including two in Mid-Missouri.

Health department workers will continue reviewing applications. The transportation facility applications can be submitted at any time.

DHSS said businesses were denied for several reasons. The facilities have to be at least 1,000 feet away from any schools, churches and daycares.
