COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Columbia police say a driver was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated after another driver had a medical issue that led to a crash Tuesday night at Grindstone Parkway and Highway 63.

The crash just before 9:30 p.m. closed the intersection. Police say Selvyn Enrique Ortega Hernandez, 25, was driving west on Grindstone Parkway and ran a red light after having a medical issue.

Hernandez's Mazda 3 then hit a Jeep Compass driven by Kristin Carlisle, 39, of Kansas City while Carlisle was making a left turn, police said. The impact caused the Jeep to overturn.

Officers arrested Carlisle on suspicion of driving while intoxicated after the crash, according to a Columbia Police Department news release. Carlisle was not in the Boone County Jail on Wednesday morning. Information about her case was not listed in online court records.

Hernandez was treated for minor injuries and Carlisle was not injured, police said.
