Road crews plow and lay treatment Tuesday despite subzero temperatures
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)
Road crews were still out in full force Tuesday morning working on roads despite the sub-freezing temperatures.
Jefferson City Public Works reported a full road crew reported in at 5 a.m. on Tuesday morning. The full crew contains 24 plow drivers and additional support staff.
Jefferson City Public Works says roads are continuously being plowed and they are working toward clearing the pavement. Crews are hoping with sunny conditions Tuesday, this will help with the snowmelt.
Boone County Road and Bridge Director Greg Edington said the county has a 30 member crew working a 12-hour shift throughout the day. Edington said the 30-person crew is switching off with an overnight crew.
Road and Bridge drivers plan to go back to using salt as the sun comes up but may stick with a mix of salt and sand if the snow is not melting.
Edington says there will be slick spots on roads and more snow overnight.
