Wintry mix and snow looming for Sunday and Monday

TONIGHT: Mostly cloudy with a few showers. Lows near 35.

SATURDAY: Temperatures falling through the day from the 30s through the 20s. Mostly cloudy with a few showers or light snow showers. No significant impacts expected.

EXTENDED: A Weather Alert Day is in effect Sunday and Monday as our next winter storm takes shape and begins to affect Mid-Missouri by Sunday afternoon. Precipitation will begin as snow for most, with a transition to a mix of freezing rain, sleet, and snow south of I-70 through Sunday evening. By Monday morning, most areas along and north of I-70 will see a change to all snow, with points south getting light snow and a glaze to 0.1" of ice on the roads. Precipitation should come to an end later on Monday, but with temperatures falling into the 20s, untreated areas will still be hazardous into Tuesday. Road conditions will begin to deteriorate late Sunday afternoon and will be problematic into the Monday morning commute. Stay with ABC 17 News for the latest on delays and cancellations.
