Hundreds of power outages reported in Mid-Missouri after storms hit area
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
A number of power outages were reported around Mid-Missouri on Wednesday.
According to the Association of Missouri Electric Cooperatives outage map, 568 power outages were reported in Maries County at 3:15 p.m., with 480 occurring for Three Rivers Electric Cooperative customers. The total was brought down to 306 by 5:15 p.m.
Three Rivers wrote on its Facebook page that crews are currently working to restore power near Belle and Bland.
“We have two 3-phase poles that will need to be fixed before power can be restored,” the post reads. “These poles are not accessible by vehicle, therefore the crews will be climbing in order to make the repairs. We thank you for your continued patience!”
Another 88 outages for Three Rivers was reported in Osage County and four were in Miller County.
Another 451 outages were reported in Gasconade County, 270 of which were for Crawford Electric Cooperative, 118 were for Intercounty Electric Cooperative and 63 were for Three Rivers. Crawford County had 970 outages reported, 856 of which were for Crawford Electric customers.
Storms rolled through Mid-Missouri earlier Wednesday and another round could start later today, according to the ABC 17 News Stormtrack Weather Team, who declared Wednesday as a Weather Alert Day. A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect until 4 p.m. for Maries, Osage, Miller, Cole, Boone, Moniteau, Callaway, Pettis, Morgan and Cooper counties.
Because of the impending storm, the Morgan County R-2 School District wrote on its social media that a late dismissal for its schools could occur, but then later decided to have a regular dismissal after speaking with Morgan County Emergency Management.
