Tracking heat and humidity, storm chances this week

TONIGHT: Mostly clear with lows in the mid-upper 60s.

TOMORROW: Mostly sunny and hot with highs in the upper 80s to around 90. Heat index in the low 90s.

EXTENDED: Heat and humidity build across Mid-Missouri this week as the jet stream lifts well to our north, giving us highs near 90 and lows near 70 each day. A cold front will slide in from the north on Wednesday, giving us a chance for scattered showers and thunderstorms by late afternoon into the evening. Storms are expected to bring heavy rain and potentially some strong wind gusts through Wednesday night. The front lingers north of us through Thursday and Friday, giving us daily chances for showers and storms, but temperatures remain in the upper 80s to around 90. Over the weekend, high pressure begins to build over the Midwest again, leaving us mostly sunny, hot, and rain-free for Saturday and Sunday.
