Cold weather settling in, brief warm-up this weekend

THIS AFTERNOON: Skies are slowly clearing out across mid-Missouri. It will be cold and breezy throughout the rest of the day. We are expecting to stay dry this evening.

TONIGHT: That cold air has a chance to settle in tonight as winds back off. Overnight lows will fall into the low 20s, and wind chills will be in the teens once again by daybreak. Give yourself extra time as you head out the door, as frost will be possible.

EXTENDED: Canadian air responsible for this cold snap sticks around Friday with highs lucky to get back to 40 despite pretty full sunshine. We do see a break heading into the weekend as winds turn out of the south with high pressure sliding off to our east. Temperatures will push into the mid to some upper 50s Saturday and has a chance to stick around Sunday. But things will be in the process of changing throughout Sunday afternoon. Yet another cold front will move through, ushering in maybe the coldest shot of air we've seen thus far. Highs for Monday and Tuesday may not get back above freezing with overnight lows in the teens. Some light snow is possible Monday.
