Mid-MO outperforms global heat trends

The numbers are in, and last month was officially the hottest month ever recorded globally. July saw global temperatures 1.3 degrees Fahrenheit above average, which is over half a degree warmer than the previous record set in July 2019. Mid-Missouri followed this trend over the past month and even outperformed global trends.

For Columbia, temperatures were on average 2.3 degrees above average, a full degree warmer than the global number. Jefferson City was even warmer, at 2.5 degrees above average last month, where several days last month clocked in above 100 degrees. After some reprieve for early August, the heat is set to return late month before summer's end.
