Tracking heat and humidity returning tomorrow, late weekend rain chances

TONIGHT: Mostly clear with patchy fog developing in low lying areas. Lows in the mid-upper 60s.

TOMORROW: Mostly sunny and hotter with highs in the upper 80s to around 90. Heat index values in the mid-upper 90s.

EXTENDED: Heat and humidity begin to build as surface winds shift back to the south on Wednesday and the eastern edge of high pressure moves in our direction. There could be a couple light showers across northern and northwest Missouri due to a decaying storm complex, but much of this looks to diminish before reaching Mid-Missouri. We'll see high temperatures get into the low 90s from Thursday through the weekend, with the heat index approaching 100 degrees each of those days. I'll be tracking a disturbance moving through as the upper ridge breaks down toward the end of the weekend, leading to a chance of rain and a few storms between Sunday and Monday. A cold front moves through between Monday and Tuesday, bringing renewed rain chances but not much of a cool down as temperatures look to remain in the upper 80s.
