Tracking another round of widespread rain late tonight into tomorrow

TONIGHT: Increasing clouds with scattered showers and storms moving in from the south. Lows in the upper 60s.

TOMORROW: Widespread rain and a few storms, with the heaviest rain along I-44. Flooding possible through late afternoon, especially south of I-70. Highs in the mid-70s.

EXTENDED: The Weather Team is issuing a Weather Alert Day for the potential of flash flooding on Tuesday due to more expected rainfall as post-tropical cyclone Beryl tracks across the Missouri bootheel. The axis of heaviest rainfall will be along I-44, but much of Mid-Missouri will see the outer bands starting late tonight through early tomorrow evening as the low pressure system tracks northeast across southern Missouri into southwest Illinois. Any shift north would mean more rain for our area, while a shift south will give us less total rain. A Flood Watch is in effect until 7AM Wednesday for much of our area, with that 2-4" range more likely from areas east of the Lake of the Ozarks up a line to St. Louis. 1-2" is a safe bet for Columbia and Jefferson City, with isolated higher amounts possible. The rest of the week is looking largely dry, with a weak front producing a few showers or storms across northern Missouri between late Wednesday night and early Thursday. Temperatures begin to heat up by the weekend as southwest flow returns, sending highs into the 90s for the weekend into next week.
