WEATHER ALERT DAY: Tracking HOT temperatures

TODAY: This morning we are waking up to a Severe Thunderstorm Watch issued by the National Weather Service as a storm system pushes toward mid-Missouri. This system is already producing gusty conditions, and we are expecting strong winds as this pushes through the viewing area. After this storm clears out, we will be partly sunny and hot with highs in the low 90s. Heat index between 97-100. It is because of this heat index that we have issued a Weather Alert Day. Scattered strong storms are possible by afternoon with isolated gusty winds and heavy rain.

TONIGHT: Those isolated storms will clear out as things settle for our evening. Lows will drop into the upper 60s.

EXTENDED: A back door front to our west may trigger a few rogue showers or storms on Saturday for areas west of Highway 65. Temperatures will be in the upper 80s to around 90 for both Saturday and Sunday, with heat indices in the low to mid-90s. Our rain chances for Tuesday and Wednesday will be directly impacted by the arrival of Cristobal.
