Tracking a big cool down, quiet week

TONIGHT: Mostly cloudy with a few spotty showers. Lows in the low 30s.

TUESDAY: Mostly cloudy and much cooler. Highs in the upper 30s to around 40.

EXTENDED: Arctic high pressure slides in from the north behind the cold front that is moving south tonight. Stubborn clouds are slow to leave on Tuesday, but as skies clear on Tuesday night, temperatures will fall into the lower 20s to start Wednesday. Sunshine returns for Wednesday, but temperatures remain in the mid-30s thanks to northerly winds. The rest of the week remains cold, with temperatures around 10 degrees cooler than average. Late in the week, the upper level pattern begins to change as the jet stream turns more southwest, bringing in more moisture and energy to the region. This will bring temperatures up Friday into the weekend, but also increase rain chances by Sunday into Monday.
