Tracking severe storms through late tonight, cooler with spotty rain Thursday

TONIGHT: Scattered storms, some strong to severe with damaging winds, hail, and tornadoes. Storms exit late, leaving us mostly cloudy with lows in the lower 60s.

TOMORROW: Mostly cloudy with highs in the upper 70s and spotty showers.

EXTENDED: Warm and windy conditions prevail across Mid-Missouri through the afternoon as highs soared to near 90 degrees with wind gusts passing 40 mph. Storms continue to develop across northeast Missouri near a front that will trigger a line of severe storms that will move north to south across the state tonight. Damaging winds in excess of 70 mph, large hail, and a few tornadoes will be possible through about 10:00 p.m. as the severe weather threat shifts south of Mid-Missouri. Thursday will be about 10 degrees cooler with highs in the upper 70s with some lingering showers, especially near the Lake of the Ozarks and points south. Friday looks fantastic with more sunshine as high pressure sets in. We'll see highs in the lower 80s through the day, warming a bit on Saturday. Another low pressure system tracks across the Plains over the weekend, bringing the potential of heavy rain as humidity increases as a warm front lifts north through our area between Saturday and Sunday. Storms could drop another 1-3" of rain across the area, making for a soggy Father's Day. Conditions are favorable for few strong storms in this time frame, but the main concern would be flash flooding with high rainfall rates.
