Tracking severe storms with damaging winds and heavy rain through late Friday night

TONIGHT: Scattered storms early, with a line of severe storms moving in late tonight, bringing the threat of damaging winds, heavy rain, and isolated hail. Lows in the upper 40s by daybreak.

TOMORROW: Gradual clearing after morning showers. Chilly and breezy with highs in the upper 50s.

EXTENDED: Cool air hangs around for the holiday weekend as the cold front will be to our east on Saturday. Winds pick up between 20-30 mph on Saturday and Sunday, but temperatures could drop to near or just above freezing in parts of Mid-Missouri on Sunday morning, so sensitive plants may be at risk of damage if winds can die down enough. Sunday is looking bright and seasonably cool around 60 degrees. Next week starts off cool on Monday, and a fast moving disturbance on Monday night into Tuesday morning may bring a quick hit of a few spotty showers or snow showers. We'll be cooler on the other side of this clipper system, with Tuesday morning lows in the 30s and highs in the mid-50s. We'll bounce back to near 70 on Wednesday with mild temperatures for the rest of the week, but an active pattern sets up late week as rain chances settle in through next weekend.
