Tracking more rain and storms tonight, adding to flood risk on rivers and streams

TONIGHT: Mostly cloudy with scattered showers and storms. Some could be strong with small hail and heavy downpours. A Flood Watch is in effect for areas west of Highway 63 where 1-3" of rain will be possible through Thursday morning. Lows in the upper 50s to low 60s.

TOMORROW: Mostly cloudy with rain and a few storms early. Rain clears out around lunch time, with a few isolated storms possible in the afternoon. Highs in the lower to mid-70s.

EXTENDED: A stalled front south of the I-70 corridor continues to provide a temperature gradient into this evening, with locations to the north cooling more than points south. Showers and storms become more numerous into this evening, with the best potential for anything severe south of the boundary. The overall severe risk is low as there's a lack of strong wind shear, but a few storms may produce up to quarter size hail. As upper winds begin to increase tonight, rain coverage becomes more widespread with storms producing heavier rain through Thursday morning. By midday, rain exits and we'll be left with the potential of a few storms in the afternoon, especially across eastern and northeast Missouri. Thursday night into Friday look dry, allowing the atmosphere to recharge ahead of a cold front that could bring strong storms by late afternoon or evening from west to east. A Weather Alert Day is in effect Friday for the potential of hail, wind, and a few tornadoes as most of Mid-Missouri is in a level 2/5 severe risk. Storms look to clear out by early Saturday, leaving us with a cooler and sunnier weekend with highs in the upper 50s to around 60 through Easter.
