Tracking a chilly Thursday morning, gusty winds by afternoon

TONIGHT: Gradual clearing and chilly with lows in the lower 30s.

TOMORROW: Breezy and sunny with highs in the upper 50s. Winds could gust as high as 40-45 mph late in the day.

EXTENDED: We're much cooler behind a cold front that finally brought an end to rain this afternoon, with clouds eventually clearing out completely tonight. Lows fall into the lower 30s, with highs reaching near our seasonal averages by morning. Winds will pick up during the day ahead of an advancing cold front, with southwest wind gusts approaching 35-40 mph by late afternoon or evening. Friday is looking dry and seasonable with highs near 60. A northward lifting warm front will allow temperatures to warm more on Saturday, but its location will determine how warm we'll be. Areas north of the front will be in the 40s and 50s while points south make it to the 60s. A strong cold front moving in on Sunday will bring a chance for showers, and if colder air can wrap around into the system quickly, we could see early evening snow showers that could leave a dusting on the grass by Monday morning. Monday will be the coldest of the week as we drop to near 20 in the morning with highs only reaching the upper 30s. The coldest night will be Monday night as high pressure slides by, dropping overnight lows into the upper teens. A clipper system from the northwest could bring a few showers or snow showers to northern Missouri on Tuesday, but we'll rebound from there as a warm front moves through and brings us back to the upper 50s on Wednesday.
