Tracking a warm afternoon, severe storms tonight

THIS AFTERNOON: Mostly sunny and warm, with highs in the mid-80s. Winds from the south will be breezy at 10 to 20 mph, gusting up to 30 mph.

TONIGHT: An ABC 17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Day is in effect tonight for the threat of severe thunderstorms capable of all hazards, including a few possible tornadoes. The first storms may not fire up until after the dinner hour, near or after 6 p.m., with more scattered to widespread development later in the evening. The severe risk will continue through midnight, so remain weather alert and have ways to receive weather information before heading to bed.

EXTENDED: Widespread showers will continue through Wednesday morning, with a few rumbles of thunder possible. Rain winds down by the end of the day, with temperatures dropping from the 60s in the morning to the 40s by the evening. Thursday is warmer in the 50s with more sunshine, and the workweek ends pleasantly in the 60s on Friday. We'll be near 70 again on Saturday, before a cold front brings rain chances and a few flurries into Sunday.
