Tracking a less windy Wednesday, rain returning by evening
TONIGHT: Partly to mostly cloudy and breezy with lows in the lower 30s.
TOMORROW: Partly sunny with showers after sunset. Highs in the lower to mid-50s.
EXTENDED: I'm tracking lighter winds as a front settles to our south later tonight, allowing temperatures to drop into the low to mid-30s. Wednesday is a touch cooler behind the front with lows in the lower 50s. Moisture begins to move in along the cold front to our south in the evening, with a chance of showers developing in the evening through very early Thursday morning. There could be a few snow showers across northern Missouri before daybreak with temperatures hovering near the freezing mark. Rain amounts generally stay under 0.1". We'll clear out quickly on Thursday as highs reach the lower 50s with sunshine. Winds pick up from the south on Friday with high pressure overhead, sending temperatures well above average into the upper 60s to near 70. We'll start out the weekend on a mild note with highs in the mid-60s on Saturday, but a deep trough digs across the Plains, bringing much cooler air in at the same time as moisture feeds in along a front situated to our south. Precipitation is expected to begin late Saturday night and could linger into Monday, bringing the potential for a wintry mix depending on the timing. There's about a 20-30% chance of seeing a trace of freezing rain accumulation and/or up to 0.5" snow with this system, but impacts likely won't last long given high temperatures in the 40s on Sunday.Â
