Tracking sunshine midweek, another round of brutal cold this weekend

THIS AFTERNOON: Sunny and cold, with temperatures staying below freezing and wind chills in the 20s and teens. Winds from the northwest may be breezy at times, reaching up to 20 mph.

TONIGHT: Skies remain mostly clear overnight, with temperatures dropping into the single digits and wind chills falling a few degrees below zero. Winds will be much lighter out of the west, blowing between 5 to 10 mph.

EXTENDED: Sunny and cool conditions continue through tomorrow, with temperatures approaching freezing again on Wednesday afternoon. Clouds will return on Thursday, but it will stay dry, and temperatures will start to fall again for the weekend. Highs will reach the low 20s at best on Thursday, and into the teens on Friday and Saturday. Saturday morning could see low temperatures around zero, with wind chills in the negative teens. A warmup begins on Sunday, lasting through most of next week, with highs returning to the 30s.
