Tracking single-digit cold tonight, much milder weather tomorrow
TONIGHT: Mostly clear and bitterly cold, with wind chills in the single digits. Winds relax and shift out of the southwest.
TOMORROW: Cold in the morning, then much milder in the afternoon in the upper 30s and low 40s under sunny skies. Winds from the southwest remain light between 5 and 10 mph.
EXTENDED: Sunny and seasonal conditions last through midweek, with highs in the upper 30s and low 40s again on Wednesday. A cold front is expected on Wednesday night, and will drop temperatures a few degrees into the mid-30s on Thursday. Skies will stay clear with this front, but another system on its heels will bring clouds and dangerously cold air this weekend. Temperatures will constantly drop on Friday, into the teens in the afternoon, before plummeting to the low single digits Saturday morning. This round of cold could be worse than any this season so far, with wind chills below -10 degrees for much of the area. There is still a lot of uncertainty around this weekend's setup, including the possibility of snow, so stay tuned and have your winter necessities ready for the cold.
