Tracking the return of winter air

TODAY: Wednesday marks the return of winter with a return to more typical January temperatures. We expect temperatures to cool into the low 30s this morning, and only climb a few degrees into the mid-30s this afternoon amid north winds 10-20 mph.

TONIGHT: Winds relax as high pressure approaches. Clear skies and calm conditions allow temperatures to drop into the mid teens.

EXTENDED: Thursday is another day in the 30s, despite sunny skies. More clouds return late Thursday into Friday. This yields a chance for flurries on Friday into Saturday morning, but chances for this have been trending lower lately as better chances remain east. Temperatures are cold again on Friday, near 40 for a near typical mid-January high temperature. Another push of cold air drops afternoon temperatures into the 20s to 30s Saturday and Sunday with more cold possible Monday through Tuesday.
