Tracking a warm and windy Tuesday before winter’s chill returns
TONIGHT: Mostly clear and cool with lows in the mid-30s.
TOMORROW: Increasing clouds and breezy with highs in the upper 50s to near 60. Light rain showers after sunset through midnight from north to south.
EXTENDED: Tomorrow will be warm and breezy as southwest winds kick up to about 20-25 mph. Clouds start to move in in advance of a clipper system that will drag a cold front through the area Tuesday night. Light rain will be possible after sunset, with less than 0.1" possible. Wednesday will be chilly with the lagging cold air finally moving in by evening as highs reach near 40 and lows fall into the mid-teens by Thursday morning. Thursday is the coldest of the work week with highs only reaching the lower to mid-30s. We'll see high pressure briefly shift winds on Friday, pushing temperatures back to around 40 before another disturbance brings light snow showers during the day. As a cold front pushes through, light snow showers are possible between Friday night and Saturday as colder air moves in, leaving us with lows in the teens and highs in the upper 20s. Snow accumulation isn't expected to be much above a dusting, with most of the snow showers centered up across northeast Missouri. Sunday morning will be the coldest of the weekend with wind chills ranging between 7-10 degrees. We'll remain slightly cooler than normal to start off next week with lows in the teens and highs in the mid-30s.
