Tracking another mild day before rain moves in Thursday
TONIGHT: Mostly clear with patchy fog developing across northeast Missouri. Lows in the mid-50s.
TOMORROW: Mostly sunny and warmer with highs in the lower to mid-60s.
EXTENDED: Patchy fog is possible up across northeast Missouri, with sunshine returning area wide by afternoon. Winds turn out of the south, pushing temperatures into the lower to mid-60s. We'll see increasing mid-high level clouds through evening, keeping temperatures in the mid-40s. Rain moves in from the south and becomes more widespread through late morning. The track of low pressure is now forecast to drift a bit farther north, allowing temperatures to rise to near 60 again despite rain coverage. The amount of instability will be very meager, but there will be enough wind shear present to get a few strong storms going along the cold front across eastern and southeast Missouri on Thursday afternoon. The Storm Prediction Center has the southern half of the region in a level 1/5 severe risk for this conditional threat, but the potential appears to be fairly low at this time. Behind the front, a secondary wave approaches from the west, bringing a few light showers and/or snow showers late Friday night into Saturday morning. Total rain amounts range between 0.5" to 1". Snow impacts look extremely limited, with maybe a dusting on the grass if air stays cool enough. The weekend is looking chillier with clouds lingering Saturday and clearing by Sunday, and highs in the upper 30s to around 40.Â
