Tracking a slight cool down Tuesday, rain returns Thursday

TONIGHT: Patchy fog north of I-70, warmer with lows in the lower 40s.

TOMORROW: Mostly sunny and slightly cooler, highs in the mid-50s.

EXTENDED: Tonight will be a touch warmer ahead of a cold front that will bring a slight cool down for tomorrow. We could start the day with some patchy fog across northern Missouri, and morning temperatures sitting near 40. Temperatures on Tuesday cool to the 50s in the afternoon as winds shift to the northwest, falling to the low 30s by Wednesday morning. Winds shift back to the south on Wednesday ahead of a warm front that will bring a chance for showers and storms as low pressure moves in from the west on Thursday. Showers and widespread storms are likely Thursday into Thursday night, with a few lingering showers possible on Friday. The best zone for any severe weather looks to lie to our east on Friday, but we'll watch for any adjustments in the speed or timing of the track that could alter that. Most of Mid-Missouri will receive about 1" of needed rainfall through early Friday morning. The weekend is looking much cooler as we feel the effects of that low pressure system by Friday afternoon. Highs approach the low 40s on Saturday with 30s on Sunday as drier air returns to the region.
