Tracking a cold turkey day, snow possible this weekend

TONIGHT: Clear and cold, with temperatures falling into the 30s after sunset, and lows as cold as the upper 20s. Winds will calm down early overnight.

THANKSGIVING DAY: Chilly in the morning, with wind chills in the lower 20s. Skies will be sunny, but temperatures will struggle to reach 40 degrees in the afternoon.

EXTENDED: Friday is dry for holiday travel, but an ABC 17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Day has been issued for late Friday night and Saturday for the potential first accumulating snowfall of the season. This system will bring a mixed bag of precipitation to the area, with those to the south receiving just rain, while snow is expected to the north and east. Accumulations are looking more likely in places like Macon, Mexico, Fulton, and possibly Columbia and Jefferson City. A cold rain is expected over the Lake of the Ozarks. Better data will be available for this system once it arrives on the West Coast tomorrow night, and the Stormtrack Weather Team will continue to update the Insider Blog with the latest developments.
