Tracking a gloomy Friday, sunshine returning tomorrow

THIS AFTERNOON: Scattered showers, with a rumble of thunder possible. Temperatures will be cool in the 50s.

TONIGHT: Rain tapers off after sunset, fully exiting the area after midnight. An additional quarter inch to half an inch of rain is possible. Clouds clear out just before sunrise, with lows in the upper 30s.

EXTENDED: Sunshine returns on Saturday, warming temperatures into the 50s by late morning through the afternoon. Sunday may be a touch warmer, closer to 60 degrees, with continued clear skies. Rain is possible on Monday, bringing a widespread half-inch of rain or so. The middle of the week trends drier again ahead of Thanksgiving, with daily highs in the 40s past Wednesday. The holiday looks sunny and chilly, with highs in the 40s and lows below freezing.
