Tracking a few storms tonight, warmer Tuesday

TONIGHT: Isolated storms, mostly cloudy with lows near 50 and gusty winds up to 20 mph.

TOMORROW: Partly sunny and warmer with highs near 70.

EXTENDED: . A few more storms could develop late tonight as low level winds tick up, but instability is at a minimum, keeping storms elevated and weak throughout the night. The best chance will be to our north and east as a warm front lifts north tonight. As we'll be squarely in the warm sector of this system on Tuesday, we can expect a warmer and windy day with highs near 70 degrees and higher dew points, lowering the fire danger quite a bit. As this system pushes south into Wednesday, we'll be cooler on the back side, with temperatures hovering near 60 with some lingering clouds. By Wednesday night, a front begins to lift in from the south, stalling out across southern Missouri. That front will be the focus for rounds of rain as it begins to slowly drift north between Thursday and Friday. We'll remain in the mid-60s on Thursday as the front lifts north and pulls in warmer air, but as the cold front sweeps through on Friday, expect highs in the upper 50s. Rain exits in time for the weekend, but we can expect a cooler start with highs in the mid-50s on Saturday. Total rain amounts will be around an inch, with slightly higher totals in southern Missouri.
