Tracking a cold night before warmer air returns Tuesday

THIS AFTERNOON: Mostly sunny and cold with highs in the upper 30s.

TONIGHT: Partly cloudy and cold with lows in the mid-20s.

EXTENDED: It's been a bitterly cold start to the week with temperatures only reaching the upper 30s this afternoon. Cold northwest winds will keep lows in the mid-20s with a wind chill in the upper teens by morning. An upper ridge begins to build to our west, shifting winds to the southwest on Tuesday. Strong southwest winds will push temperatures back into the upper 50s with more clouds. The rest of the week is looking mild as we reach the 60s Wednesday and Thursday, and low 70s by Friday and Saturday. Another cold front works in between Saturday night and Sunday, bringing a shot at rain and a few storms, and more seasonable temperatures by Saturday. Rain amounts look to be around an inch or less over the weekend.
