Tracking scattered rain ahead of a dry Halloween
TODAY: Tuesday is cloudy, with showers returning by the afternoon for many. Temperatures only climb to mid-50s by the afternoon, making it another dreary and cool day. Take the umbrella, showers will return by the evening commute for most, after a dry lunch hour for many.
TONIGHT: Showers overspread the region from west to east, so some in the east may not see rain until sunset or later. Still, all get rain overnight, as showers are likely still covering the region at sunrise. Temperatures remain in the upper 40s to low 50s overnight.
EXTENDED: Showers will linger through the morning, but begin to taper off by noon. The afternoon looks largely dry, with clouds struggling to clear before sunset. One half inch to one inch of rain is forecast through the event, with greatest totals coming south of I-70. Sunshine returns Thursday, and dominates the rest of the forecast. Despite brighter skies, we stay cool. Another blast of cooler air behind the rain keeps highs forecast in the 50s through the weekend. Halloween night may slip into the 40s during trick-or-treat hours.
