Tracking patchy frost the next two nights, rain by Friday
TONIGHT: Mostly clear as winds die down. Lows in the upper 30s to around 40. Patchy frost possible in low lying areas.
TOMORROW: Mostly sunny and comfortable with highs in the mid-70s.
EXTENDED: Winds finally die down tonight as the surface high pressure gets overhead, allowing temperatures to drop into the upper 30s to around 40 under clear skies. Patchy frost will be possible for the next two nights as skies remain clear, so very sensitive plants will need to be covered or brought inside. Highs on Wednesday and Thursday reach the mid-60s. Low pressure tracking across the Plains late in the week slides to our south between Friday and Sunday, bringing a chance for rain beginning on Friday. Showers are possible into Saturday and Sunday as the system looks to move through slowly, but the axis of most widespread, measurable rain will sit along and south of I-70 where amounts will reach 1-2." Temperatures on Friday and Saturday will remain in the upper 50s to around 60, with a slight warm up on Sunday with less rain around. Next week starts off mild with highs near 70, but we could see another front between Monday and Tuesday that could bring another shot at rain and storms, and I'm already keeping an eye on the dynamics of that system as it looks like it could be a strong front that would maybe carry a severe threat if the passage can line up with the ingredients. We'll have plenty of wind shear and warmer temperatures on Monday ahead of it. Even if it doesn't produce severe weather, it could add another inch to our rain total for the next 7 days.Â
