Tracking October air ahead of another warmup
TODAY: Wednesday is a shining example of what early to mid-October should typically feel like. We'll have bright skies, and a high near 70 after starting in the 40s. Some start in the upper 30s this morning, but most will make it into the low 70s. Winds are light from the northeast.
TONIGHT: Overnight, temperatures are expected to plumet into the 40s again. Skies remain clear, and winds light.
EXTENDED: Thursday is a near carbon copy of Wednesday, but by Friday, winds return from the southwest. This will drive highs to near 80. This wind shift will come just ahead of a weak cold front on Friday. We'll have a small rain chance along this front Friday morning. Clouds may linger Friday night into Saturday, as we see a warm front try to lift back through the region to kick off the weekend. This has Saturday a BIG question mark in the forecast. While rain is not incredibly likely Saturday, we will have a front moving through and disturbing the forecast. The concern is that this could keep clouds present on Saturday, keeping us cool. If clouds don't linger, more sunshine would warm us more quickly. Currently, expectations are for temperatures in the 70s at kickoff against Alabama out at Faurot on Saturday. Highs may reach 80 by the end of the game. Sunday into next week, temperatures reach 80s each afternoon. We'll be mostly dry early next week, but some rain chances pop up Monday and Tuesday.
