What pollen hits and when?

Although spring is far away, many across the Mid-Missouri region may be having issues with allergies. High to very high levels of pollen continue to cause issues as we enter mid-September.

Ragweed remains the highest level of allergen currently thanks to its seasonal return. Drier conditions continue to provide no relief as rain can largely limit and filter the pollen in the atmosphere. Followed closely behind ragweed, chenopods and nettle remain the secondary most felt allergens currently.

Levels are expected to increase heading into the weekend with mostly dry conditions expecetd.

Ragweed is primarily felt during August and September every year but begins to fall to lower levels in October.

Next in line to see an increase in Mid-Missouri is goldenrod. This will remain at medium levels through October before winter wipes out most allergens as most plants die or become dormant.
