Tracking storms tonight, cooler and sunny Thursday
TONIGHT: Mostly cloudy with a few storms lingering through midnight. Lows in the lower to mid-50s with patchy fog developing by morning.
TOMORROW: Mostly sunny and comfortable with highs in the mid-70s.
EXTENDED: Storms will continue to be scattered tonight, with the better environment for severe weather across eastern Kansas. Storms will likely drift near the I-70 corridor between 6-8PM and press south thereafter. The most impactful wind shear lags behind the front, limiting severe weather potential in Mid-Missouri after sunset. Storms will move out of the area after midnight, with some patchy fog developing by or before daybreak. Lows will be in the low to mid-50s, with a cold to warm gradient from north to south across the area. Thursday looks awesome with highs in the mid-70s and sunshine. Another cold front moves in early on Friday, increasing cloud cover and bringing a chance for showers through early evening from north to south. Clouds and light rain will keep temperatures in the upper 60s to around 70 on Friday afternoon. Clouds will be slow to exit, with some coverage lingering on Saturday, especially south of I-70. Overall the weekend looks fantastic with sunshine and highs in the upper 70s by Sunday afternoon. Next week will bring a shot at light rain on Monday night, but from there the pattern begins to shift as high pressure builds to our west. That should cut off rain chances but also increase temperatures back above average by mid-late next week
