Tracking storms Wednesday, cool down by Thursday
TONIGHT: Partly cloudy and cool with lows in the upper 50s.
TOMORROW: Partly sunny with storms possible by late afternoon or early evening with highs in the lower 80s.
EXTENDED: I'm tracking a few clouds tonight, but with a bit more clearing we'll likely fall into the upper 50s overnight. We'll be a bit warmer tomorrow in the afternoon ahead of a cold front that will start migrating in our direction from the north. Storms will start to develop along the front as early as late afternoon, but will continue to become more widespread into the evening as the front drops south. Most of the area is in a level 1/5 severe risk for the potential of isolated strong wind gusts and hail up to quarter size. We won't be issuing a Weather Alert Day as the threat is looking fairly limited and will wane after sunset as we lose instability. Storms exit around midnight to the south, leaving us with drier and cooler air for Thursday morning. Thursday will be feeling fall like with highs in the low to mid-70s, with more clouds returning in the evening. Another front works through on Friday, bringing a few spot showers and an even cooler air mass that sets in for the weekend. As skies clear Friday night, lows drop into the upper 40s. Saturday looks fantastic for tailgating ahead of the Mizzou vs. KU football game as high temperatures reach the mid-70s. Sunday will bring increasing clouds, but rain looks to hold off until Monday. Next week starts off mild, but could begin warming back to near or above average in the mid-80s toward the end of the week.Â
