Tracking another round of rain and storms late tonight into Monday morning

TONIGHT: Scattered storms possible through the evening into Monday morning, especially along and south of I-70. Heavy rainfall rates are possible with isolated gusty winds. Lows in the lower 70s.

TOMORROW: Morning rain followed by afternoon heat with highs in the upper 80s. Heat index in the low to mid-90s.

EXTENDED: A stalled front across northwest Missouri will trigger yet another round of thunderstorms this evening, as low level winds ramp up and continue to drive more moisture into the region. The severe threat will be low, but rainfall rates could be high and cause ponding on roads. A few strong wind gusts are also possible with storms this evening and overnight. After storms roll out, temperatures rise back up into the upper 80s with a heat index in the low to mid-90s. Another round of storms develops near the front in the evening, bringing another batch of rain to Mid-Missouri through Tuesday morning. Rain chances will be best across northern Missouri through mid-late week, but as the front lifts north and high pressure builds across the southeast, highs get back into the 90s with a heat index near 100 again starting Friday.
