Tracking triple digit heat and storms by late tomorrow night

TONIGHT: Mostly clear and warm with lows in the lower 70s.

TOMORROW: Mostly sunny and hot with a few isolated storms. Highs in the low 90s with a heat index between 100-103.

EXTENDED: Tomorrow will be hotter and humid with highs in the low 90s but the heat index between 100-103 degrees. A few storms could pop up by mid-late afternoon in similar fashion to what we're seeing today. Ahead of a cold front to our north, a complex of storms is expected to develop tomorrow night across Iowa and Nebraska and shove in our direction by very early Thursday morning. A few storms could have strong wind gusts, with a level 1 out of 5 severe risk for north of I-70 late tomorrow night into Thursday morning. Rain amounts will range from about 0.5" to 1.5" in some of the heftier cells.  I've lowered the temperatures on Thursday to the lower 80s with rain sticking around off and on through the day. The front looks to stall across Mid-Missouri on Friday, bringing the potential for a few more showers and storms. As the front lifts back north on Friday night into Saturday, that will open the door to more heat and humidity for the weekend. Highs reach the low 90s with a heat index around 100. Rain chances are looking minimal and would be tied to the heat of the day if we see anything pop up.
