Tracking scattered storms tonight, much more comfortable air Tuesday

TONIGHT: Mostly cloudy with scattered storms diminishing late. Lows in the mid-60s.

TOMORROW: Mostly sunny and comfortable with lower humidity and highs in the low to mid-80s.

EXTENDED: A slowly advancing cold front has started to trigger storms across northwest Missouri and will continue to develop storms farther east across Mid-Missouri tonight. Some storms could bring the potential of heavy rain and 40-50 mph winds. As the cold front works southeast, we'll see storms come to an end well before midnight and be replaced with a comfortable air mass as winds shift to the northwest Tuesday. Highs tomorrow reach the low to mid-80s with lower humidity and sunshine. Wednesday looks pleasant as humidity remains low, but with temperatures reaching near the dew point in the morning along with light winds, we could see some fog developing in low lying areas in the morning. High pressure builds right over us for the end of the week, pushing temperatures back up to near 90 for July 4th. Heat index values reach near 100 on Friday and Saturday, with a couple storms possible over the weekend during the peak heating of the day.
