Tracking afternoon storms with a drier rest of the week

TODAY: Highs warm into the 80s, but chances for rain return in the afternoon via scattered thunderstorms. Our severe threat is low, but some storms may be capable of gusty winds. Rain likely keeps highs in the 80s.

TONIGHT: Skies remain at least partly cloudy overnight, but we'll gradually clear Tuesday morning. A clearing cold front will allow temperatures to drop into the 60s.

EXTENDED: This means dew points will fall into the mid-to-low 60s through Tuesday morning, and possibly into the 50s by Tuesday afternoon. With a high in the low 80s under sunny skies, it will be a very crisp feeling day and stark contrast to the exiting heat wave. Wednesday will be another less humid day, but humidity slow starts to tick back upward on the west side of high pressure that has us sunny and mild Tuesday through Wednesday. By Thursday, south winds will return the heat and humidity with highs in the upper 80s and dew points again nearing the 70s. This continues with a high near 90 on Friday, meaning we'll feel like upper 90s Thursday and likely into the holiday weekend. The good news, is that we look dry through Independence Day on Friday. Spotty chances for storms pop up over the weekend.
