Tracking heat, humidity, and storms for the weekend
TODAY: After rain before sunrise, much of the morning is expected to be dry. Added moisture from rain this morning will just add to the steamy factor, but some lingering clouds could set temperatures back this afternoon. Additionally, more showers and storms are expected to develop this afternoon south of I-70. This will have a cooling effect as well. Under rain this afternoon, highs could be as cool as the 70s, but those who stay dry in the afternoon are expected in the mid-to-upper 80s. With present humidity, that will again feel like upper 90s.
TONIGHT: Storms will pulse up and down in intensity with little wind support. These will wane with sunset, leaving us dry overnight, but with clouds cluttering the sky at least early in the night.
EXTENDED: Isolated storms are possible again on Saturday, leaving some with a break from the heat, but many will remain hot and humid, with a heat index near 100. Sunday brings some hope for more scattered rainfall, but those who miss out will again be hot and humid. Rain will really complicate the temperature forecast through Monday, as rain will cool, but humidity lingering makes any warmth feel well hotter. A cold front drives rain chances Monday, but the humidity doesn't likely clear until Tuesday. Lower humidity is expected Tuesday through Thursday, with highs in the 80s and drier conditions.
