Tracking a chance for pop-up storms this weekend

TODAY: If yesterday was your favorite type of weather, you're in luck. Most of our Thursday will remain hot, humid and sunny. Our temperatures will reach the lower 90s today, with heat index values nearing the 100s with the higher levels of humidity.

TONIGHT: If you're looking for a change though, tonight might be the answer to your prayers. As a low pressure system passes by up north, we've got the chance for some showers and weak storms overnight. Many areas towards the northern region of Missouri can expect heavy rainfall, along with the occasional clap of thunder.

EXTENDED: The storm chances look to stick around and flirt with Central Missouri throughout most of our weekend. Sunday looks like our next best chance for seeing those storms. Despite all of these chances for storms, temperatures will still be quite warm, with highs around the mid to upper 80s. Widespread showers and storms may linger into Monday, before a drier afternoon given current timing estimates. We expect a fall in dew point, but it may be delayed until Tuesday. Highs are generally expected in the mid-80s early next week, with lower humidity at least through Wednesday.
