Tracking evening storm chances with a hot and sunny weekend ahead

TODAY: Wednesday will be rainy to kick off the day, with a chance for storms but a very low severe threat. For the latest on our ABC17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Day, read our online blog. Some clearing will happen, but this also opens up a window for more storm development by the afternoon and again into the evening. Our severe threat is low.

TONIGHT: A cold front pushes through around sunset, generating a few showers and storms. This effectively pushes away our moisture tonight, but not our warmth. We'll still linger in the 60s Thursday morning.

EXTENDED: Surface high pressure moves in Thursday, with a north breeze early in the day keeping us cooler and somewhat drier. Dewpoints in the low 60s and 50s will have us feeling less humidity and highs in the low 80s. The upper level pattern favors quiet and warm weather through the rest of the week and into next. We expect highs in the 90s, and heat index values in the mid-to-upper 90s over the weekend and into next week.
