Tracking strong storms with damaging winds and heavy rain tonight
TONIGHT: A line of storms will bring the potential of damaging winds and heavy rain with flash flooding. Lows fall into the mid-60s.
TOMORROW: Morning showers exit with partly cloudy skies remaining. Highs in the lower 70s.
EXTENDED: Severe storms have moved into Mid-Missouri ahead of a cold front that will sweep across the region tonight from west to east. Storms will have the potential of 60+ mph winds and a few brief tornadoes, along with 1-3" + rainfall. Lingering showers continue into early Wednesday as the front hangs in the vicinity, but most of the day is partly to mostly cloudy and drier with highs in the lower 70s. The front begins to move back in our direction on Thursday and Friday, renewing our chances for showers and storms through the end of the week. A few storms could be strong on Friday into early Saturday, especially south of I-70 where there's a level 1/5 risk near the stalled frontal boundary. The front looks to mainly stay near the Arkansas-Missouri border over the weekend, lessening our rain chances and keeping temperatures near our seasonal average at about 80 degrees.
