Tracking near record warmth tomorrow, storms possible Friday

TONIGHT: Mostly clear and mild with lows in the upper 60s to around 70.

TOMORROW: Partly sunny and warm with highs in the upper 80s.

EXTENDED: We could fall to near record warm low temperatures tomorrow, with 7:00 a.m. temperatures around 70 degrees. Thursday is warm yet ahead, reaching the upper 80s ahead of another cold front. We'll have a strong "cap" in place, preventing severe weather from developing in our area, but it is weaker to our east across IL, IN and the Great Lakes where severe storms are more likely. Friday is looking interesting and the day's weather will highly be depending on the speed of another cold front. Our current forecast has the front moving through by around midday, exiting to the east by late afternoon. Should the timing slow down, ingredients are in place for severe storms from mid-late afternoon through early evening. The Storm Prediction Center has parts of Mid-Missouri in a level 1/5 risk for severe weather along and east of Highway 54, with a slight risk along or just north of I-44. There is more confidence that storms will become strong and more numerous to our east, with a level 3 risk across southern and southeast Missouri. Either way, if we do or don't have storms, we're clear by early Friday evening and dry through Saturday with slightly cooler temperatures behind the front to start the weekend. As a warm front lifts back north Sunday into Monday, we could have multiple rounds of storms, some of which could be strong between Sunday night and Monday night. By Tuesday morning, the warm front will be north of us, and we'll be waiting on a cold front to move in by late afternoon or evening. Ingredients for severe weather could also be present on Tuesday, rounding out 3 days of strong storm potential. We could pick up anywhere from 1-2.5" of rain with these rounds between Sunday and Tuesday of next week. We'll cool a bit following Tuesday night's frontal passage, back down into the 70s for highs.
