Tracking afternoon storms before a warming weekend ahead

TODAY: We'll be mostly cloudy and dry for most of Wednesday. Better rain chances come into the late afternoon and through the evening. Showers and storms will be more widespread. Severe weather is not expected. Temperatures will climb to near 70 before afternoon rain moves in.

TONIGHT: Widespread rain will weaken overnight, leaving best rain totals in the southwest. Rain chances continue through the morning. Temperatures remain in the 50s through sunrise.

EXTENDED: Thursday brings more of a north wind as the system moves away. This will take shower chances away through Thursday, leaving us likely dry by the afternoon. Some moisture may linger, leaving an isolated rain chance through the day. Again, there will be meaningful dry time between showers on Thursday, much like Wednesday. Rain totals through Thursday could range from near a trace north of I-70, to isolated totals over an inch in the south. Beyond this system, we'll find a nice stretch of dry weather to carry us through the weekend and into next week. Temperatures will climb from low 70s, to near 80 by Sunday and Monday. Subtle rain chances linger at the start of the next work week on Monday.
