Tracking a mild and windy Monday, rain and storms by Tuesday
TONIGHT: Increasing clouds and windy with gusts up to 20 mph. Lows in the upper 30s.
TOMORROW: Partly to mostly cloudy and mild with highs in the low 60s. Wind gusts up to 30 mph.
EXTENDED: We have a very active, spring like start to the week with low pressure sliding by to our south tonight into tomorrow, increasing clouds and sending a strong south breeze our way. Another low pressure system takes aim Monday night through Wednesday, bringing widespread rain and embedded storms ahead of a front on Tuesday morning. Some of those storms could contain small hail. There is a level 1 out of 5 severe risk for the entire area for the afternoon if morning rain and clouds can clear enough for the atmosphere to recharge. If we can get some more instability to return near the surface, a few severe storms would be possible along the cold front by late afternoon and early evening. These would have the potential of all hazards if they can develop. Behind the cold front, strong winds continue with gusts up to 40-45 mph, and perhaps some light snow on Wednesday morning as the system exits. No impacts are expected to roads, but there could be brief window of lower visibility with strong winds for the morning commute. Wednesday will be quite cold and windy with wind chills near the freezing mark. Thursday is looking seasonable with highs in the upper 40s and sunshine. Another low pressure system works through on Friday, bringing gusty winds and a chance for rain as temperatures get back into the upper 50s. The weekend is looking more quiet and mild with a warmer pattern shaping up for the following week.
