Tracking light snow, dangerous cold tonight

TOMORROW: Snow starts off light and becomes heavier throughout the day. Snow showers continue through about midnight before tapering off to the east. Highs near 10 with wind chills near zero.
EXTENDED: The band of light snow this morning has ended, but slick spots are still possible in untreated areas into this evening as temperatures fall into the single digits. Light snow moves back in late tonight, continuing in spurts through daybreak Tuesday, adding up to around 1" of accumulation. Snow starts to fill in again by mid-late morning, particularly along and south of I-70. The heaviest snow arrives by early evening and continues into Tuesday night before pressing east after midnight. Impacts to travel are expected through Wednesday as bitterly cold temperatures stick around. Highs only reach around 10 on Tuesday and Wednesday, and there could be a few more flurries with gusty winds on Wednesday afternoon. Wind chills fall to around -10 to -15 through Friday morning, with the coldest morning on Thursday as actual air temperatures drop to around -5. The record low temperature on Thursday morning in Columbia is 0 degrees. We start to thaw out gradually as highs get back into the mid-20s on Friday, with 30s again by Saturday. A warmer pattern sets up for next week with highs getting close to 50 by Monday.
