Tracking a cold Friday morning, rain to start the weekend

TONIGHT: Mostly clear and cold with lows in the low teens. Wind chills around 5 degrees.

TOMORROW: Mostly cloudy with a few sprinkles. Gusty winds with highs in the upper 30s.

EXTENDED: Tonight will be cold yet again as lows fall into the low teens with wind chills near 5 degrees at sunrise. Gusty southeast winds will send temperatures back into the upper 30s during the day, but low level moisture will send clouds our way as well. A few sprinkles are possible in the afternoon, but we'll see a better shot at scattered showers after midnight into Saturday as a front lifts north into the area. Highs on Saturday manage to reach the low to mid-40s before cold air arrives, turning leftover rain over to snow Saturday night. Less than 1/2" of snow is expected as this system moves east, but Sunday will be quite a bit colder with morning temperatures in the low teens and highs around 20. Next week starts off about 15-20 degrees cooler than normal with highs in the 20s and more clouds on Monday. A few flurries are possible with a disturbance that slides by to our north. We're still eyeing Tuesday for the potential of snow accumulation as low pressure slides by to our south. Bitterly cold air moves in by middle of the week as air temperatures could dip to near zero on Wednesday and Thursday mornings, with a wind chill potentially colder than that. We don't warm back to near normal likely until next weekend.
